echolocation.fm on piratetv.net

echolocation.fm
piratetv.net

our guest last tuesday was logreybeam who sculpts absolutely gorgeous music. we were celebrating the release of yasumé's latest album on city centre offices, released earlier that day. [yasumé is his project with music partner xela and you can purchase it from the warp mart]. logreybeam has an upcoming release coming out on type records from the most wikked crew behind default response in the uk.

next tuesday's guest is deru, who has releases on neo ouija, city centre offices and mille plateaux. his music is fantastic...you will likee! so tune in to piratetv.net september 16th @ 7pm [pst] or super late night in the uk @ 3am [gmt] (guess that would technically be wednesday morning for you europeans).

- - - > also massive love and respect to our guests we've had on the show lately:
* ben milstein (one of the e.l.m. curators...the psychedelic/electro/experimental god of the underground. his latest release is out on outside recordings)
* edIT (ohmigawd edIt fkkn ROCKS - the crowd went wild! this artists has MAD cutup skills. we will be posting the archive of this one due to high demand - keep your eyes peeled out for his upcoming album releasing on planet mu)
* kadet (who is one of the most stunning ambient audio sculpters out there and left us all just completely inspired with jaws on the floor)
* cyrusrex & sqg (the negative 3 duo who have been making some serious waves with their intense intelligent audio up and down the west coast - and playing host to some kick ass events of late w/ guests venetian snares & snog)

ill-communication

haven't been very diligent at keeping up with the blogs, sorry. i've taken a short contract with LA.com. heh - ironic that i move from san francisco to los angeles to consult for a startup dot com, hey? it's great people to work with, and a helluva big project to get off the ground. hence, my lag in communication.

also this week, the piece on anna and i came out in mac addict [oct issue]. we are featured with richie hawtin, bt and venus hum.

i performed for the venetian snares show on wednesday which kicked ass [nice one negative 3]. v-snares blew me away. inspiring. a master @ digital cutups.

ok ok ok

lots on. went to ms. e's family's place in redondo beach to get away and play earlier in the week (thanks emily), and am preparing for the impending day of my birth this sunday. discussion's of various activities throughout the weekend are under way.
m-audio just gave me a bunch of gear. really excited about the transit usb audio card, which is going to free up some powerstrip real-estate AND lighten my live gear load bigtime. also got the new luna microphone which is delicious....will be putting it to the test, so i'll let you know my feedback on this one. also check out their reference monitors and keyboards ...i've just anointed the radium as my main midi controller in the studio.

pirate is good

better than an apple a day, i tell you.

so we had edIT @ the studio tonight [erasereraser.com] for a live set that touched everyone deeply who was tuned in. i expect that he will become extremely well known once this album comes out on planet-mu. fantastic. definitely a new favorite for me. i'll upload the set to the ptv-archives [piratetv.net] so you can listen for yourself.

we'll be at fais do do on thursday night for the terpsichore benefit [terpsichoregroup.org]. i'm not performing, but anna is spinning and deru and cyrusrex are playing live..yummy!

here and now

finally got through the move to los angeles (that was one of the toughest moves for me yet - even harder than the london to san francisco one). anna and i packed the whole house up ourselves (crazy), drove all night, then arrived in weather that was so hot we had things melting before our eyes. luckily our friends travis and david were up for helping us unload or we may not have made it through (thanks guys, you are life savers, ferilla).

anna and i have a great house with our friends bobby and sariah, and a killer view. we've been working on a lot of tracks and interesting projects, so keep your ears open.

* oh, and tune in to the echolocation broadcasts [piratetv.net] every tuesday night @ 7pm pacific. we've got a plethora of wikked guests lined up [www.echolocation.fm].
